Pumpkin Patch Field Trip

Wednesday was William's pre-school field trip to the pumpkin patch. They went to Lendt's Pumpkin Patch in Wyoming, MN and it was a lot of fun. We rode a real school bus to the pumpkin patch. William loved the ride and even fell asleep on the way there due to the vibration of the ride. When we arrived, they had us load up onto two tractor-pulled hay racks. They drove us through the several of their pumpkin fields to get to a far away field where we picked two pumpkins. William wanted to get a big pumpkin for himself, even though we already had a big one from Grandpa Don's garden. And then he insisted on finding one for me. When we picked pumpkins last weekend we only got three pumpkins, the biggest one was for Tom and I. I guess William is pretty thoughtful and didn't want me to feel left out.
After picking pumpkins (and me having to carry them both back to the hay rack) we were driven to the corn field. There we each picked an ear of popping corn and an ear of Indian corn. We tried to go far into the corn field to get some great colored corn. We have to wait until January to try and pop the poppin corn. The instructions say we can just pop it in the microwave in a brown paper bag. Hopefully we can keep the cobs until then and pop it.

Then we rode back to the buses, put our pumpkins on the bus and ate a picnic lunch. It was a great Fall day to be at the pumpkin patch. It was a bit cool but would warm up when the sun came out. Thankfully it was dry an not raining or muddy in the field.

Overall it was a fun trip and William talked about it constantly Wednesday evening. It makes me want to go on more outings with the kids when they are in school.

Today at pre-school they talked about their field trip and did a few more things related to it. William came home with this picture he drew of his favorites from the field trip. I love the picture. (note: picture to be added when my computer tech guy can help me.)
