Bennett

So I feel like William is getting a lot of face time on the blog and I want to remember the funny and cute things that Bennett is doing right now. Amidst the temper tantrums, throwing toys, and screaming phase he is going through.

While William was at pre-school a few weeks ago we did a major shopping/errand run. Stopped at Michael's quickly looking for a few things I needed. We walked past the Halloween display of all of the craft foam. I saw some pirate hat kits (needed for William's birthday party in February) and then decided not to get them. Meanwhile, Bennett had spied this huge foam pirate hat. He instantly starts saying "arrgh, arrgh" and points incessantly at the hat. I pick it up and he proceeds to put it on and continues saying "arrgh, arrgh." After hearing that my 22 month old knew that it was for a pirate and knew what to say I just had to get it. William already had a pirate hat at home and I think that Bennett knew that and wanted one for himself. Now the boys run around the house with their pirate hats on saying "arrgh, arrgh."

Bennett's vocabulary and verbal skills seem to be exploding at an exponential rate right now. He is starting to say two word phrases like "Thank you, Mommy. Please, Daddy. William's car. etc." And it is really cute to hear him say William's name. He knows pretty much every animal and sound it makes, can identify body parts (ear, eye, nose) and other items.

He likes to say 'hello' and 'goodbye' to things. To get him to put a toy down when we leave to house we have to say 'bye bye car' or 'bye bye toys.' We have the pumpkins in the garage right now and everytime I put Bennett in his carseat he says 'hi pumpkins.' He says hi and bye to everyone we pass.

While we drive William to pre-school in the morning we see many buses on the way. Bennett points out every bus and says 'bus!' or points out the cars and trucks. It is very fun to hear him identifying things as we drive along.

Bennett loves Lightning McQueen, the racecar from the Disney move 'Cars.' He calls him 'ning ning' and any time he sees it he says it. We have many of the toys/cars from the movie and he loves them all. We have pretty much all of the die cast race cars and they all have names. And Bennett has his favorites. 'Chick Hicks' and 'Lightning' are among his favorites. On our way out the door the other morning he had Lightning and wanted to know where Chick Hicks was. That one was downstairs and I didn't want to run down and get it. So I tried to offer him Doc Hudson, but his response was 'no.' It is so funny that he can distinguish between each car and that he has favorites already.

It's so cute that our boys have so many similar interests! Levi's favorite toys right now are cars, trains, planes, boats......or anything with a motor. ; ) Whenever we are in the car he does the same thing as Bennett and points out all the different kinds of cars. My favorite is when he says "Whoa, big, BIG truck." It's the most simple things that are so exciting to him.
