Doctor Visit

After unsuccessfully trying to treat William's eczema for 2 weeks we made an appointment with the doctor. Our appointment was yesterday and she prescribed some topical steroid cream and an antihistamine to help with the itching. William's eczema got so bad that he scratched his leg to the point of bleeding. And he started to scratch more than just when we would change his diaper. While driving home Tuesday afternoon, I turned around in the car to find William with his pant legs pulled all the way up and scratching away at his legs. Poor little guy. The antihistamine seemed to work last night because he slept for pretty much the entire night. He woke up one night at 1:30a.m. scratching and didn't fall asleep until 2 hours later. And what was worse was that we had to rock/hold him so that he wouldn't itch his legs - so much for just letting him cry. Hopefully this medication will help his little legs and then we can just use preventive measures (lotion his legs every diaper change, limit baths and soap, etc.) so that it doesn't happen to this extent again.

On a fun note - they had William stand on the scale to check his weight instead of laying him on the 'baby' scale. He is getting to be such a 'big' boy in so many ways. (21 pounds too!)

Aw, poor William! I don't know if you remember or if I told you, but I've had eczema since I was 4 (I think). They say that when you become a teenager it may go away for a little while because of the different oils on your skin, and that it may or may not come back after that. I still have it a little bit but they have some pretty good prescriptions to help with it now. I hope he's doing better now! (I know that post is really old!)
I miss you guys! I loved the Christmas video. I hope you're all doing really well. Love you guys!
