Pumpkins and Apples

We usually try to take a trip in the fall to an apple orchard or pumpkin patch. This year we did both on the same day and for FREE! Grandpa Don (Tom's dad) has planted pumpkins in his garden the last several years for all of the grandkids. This year he had a bumper crop and we actually went down to the garden and got to pick out our own pumpkins. William picked a decent size one for himself and a smaller one for Bennett. Mommy and Daddy got the really big one. That will be a lot of fun to carve! It was a fun outing with the cousins.

After dinner, we picked apples from Grandpa Don's apple trees in the backyard. Grandpa Don worked really hard this year to keep the bugs and worms away so we could pick some. Last year we couldn't pick any because they had too many worms. William and Bennett had a lot of fun picking apples this year. Especially when Tom put them on his shoulders so they could reach the apples. We brought home just a few and are going to attempt to make an apple pie later this week.

So now we are all set for Fall. Pumpkins, check. Apples, check. Bring on October.
