William had his second swimming lesson at FOSS Swim School today. He started last week and we are hoping that he will progress enough to putting his face in the water and enjoying himself in the pool this summer. At the school they use a lot of fun things and terms to help kids that don't want to put their face in the water. One thing we have been saying a lot around the house has been "show me you monkey cheeks." They want the students to fill their cheeks with air and hold their breath to help with not getting water in the nose. We are working really hard on this with William. We have even been having extra bath time to try and help him put his face in the water.
I took the video camera with today and got some video. He didn't do as well as he did last week. But we do have 10 more weeks so hopefully we will see some progress, especially for what I am paying for these lessons. (And William is kindof getting a private lesson since no one else has signed up for the 9 am class with him.) I'll forewarn the grandmas that his teacher, Omar, is a bit forcefull, like pushing his face into the water, but is very kind and does it nicely.
